REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO DETERMINE A REASONABLE RATE OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR CERTIFIED REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING FACILITIES.

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers from across New Mexico train at certified regional law enforcement training facilities; and

WHEREAS, administrators at certified regional law enforcement training facilities run budget deficits each year due to the cost of operating their facilities; and

WHEREAS, the department of public safety should financially support certified regional law enforcement training facilities for the cost of training New Mexico law enforcement officers;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department of public safety be requested to reimburse certified regional law enforcement training facilities for a percentage of the cost of their operations; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the secretary of public safety and each administrator of a certified regional law enforcement facility work cooperatively to determine a reasonable reimbursement rate for certified regional law enforcement facilities for the cost of operating and training New Mexico law enforcement officers; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of public safety and to each administrator of a certified regional law enforcement training facility.
