REQUESTING THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO ALLOW THE USE OF MATERIALS IN THE CLASSROOM FOR THE STUDY OF CREATION THEORY.

WHEREAS, the spirit of education is inquiry, investigation and study; in other words, education requires an open mind; and

WHEREAS, the world's religions have played a vital role in all cultures' development and history; and

WHEREAS, education is incomplete without an understanding of the role of religion and spiritual practices;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state board of education be requested to allow the use of materials in the classroom for the study of creation theory; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the state board of education.
