SUMMARY
Synopsis of Memorial
Senate Memorial 24 request the human services department contract with "Children, Our Hidden Treasures," a nonprofit corporation working with single parents and their children, to design and administer a pilot project for assemblies in the schools to show the reality and hardship to both children and their parents caused by single parenting as well as the fiscal implications to government.
Significant Issues
The state budget includes $625 thousand in TANF grant funds for the GRADS program, which also works with schools to prevent teen pregnancies.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There is no immediate fiscal implication, since the memorial recommends that the human services department contract with the nonprofit corporation, rather than provide an appropriation.
