SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

This memorial requests the Financial Institutions Division, RLD and its counterpart in the State of Colorado, assist the board of trustees of the Tierra Amarilla Land Grant in locating any land grant assets that may be held in the state of Colorado.

Significant Issues

This asset search would require approximately two weeks of work for one full-time staff member.

According to the department, this search does not need to be conducted by a specialist. FID does not have jurisdiction over banks in Colorado, and thus would have no greater ability to locate these assets than a private citizen.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

There is no appropriation included in the bill to conduct this search. The department estimates the cost to engage in this search would be approximately $1.9 to compensate a staff member for two weeks of work.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

The department stated that the staff member conducting this search would not be available to do their regular work assignment during that time. The search would impact the department workload.
