SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Resolution 11 proposes a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would permit the Legislature to adopt a runoff election law for state offices. Also, the bill would allow municipalities to adopt a runoff election ordinance for municipal offices.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The bill does not appropriate any funds. However, publication of constitutional amendments constitute a non-recurring cost of $17.0.
DUPLICATION
This bill duplicates House Joint Resolution 4. HJR 2, SJR 1, and SJR 3 provide for only allowing municipalities to adopt runoff ordinances for municipal elections. This particular resolution also provides for state offices.
