SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

County Clerk $43,301 $50,000

Probate Judge $15,141 $20,000

For those class B counties with a valuation of over $75 million but under $300 million valuation, the salary limits would be increased from and to the following amounts:

Salary Limits

From $ To $

County Commissioners $12,311 $20,000

Treasurer $37,075 $50,000

County Assessor $37,075 $50,000

County Sheriff $38,773 $65,000

County Clerk $37,075 $50,000

Probate Judge $ 8,632 $20,000

Significant Issues

This bill would establish the same salary limits of elected officials regardless of the county's assessed valuation.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

This bill does not impact state agencies, but impacts counties. The actual impact depends on the level the counties actually establish the salaries at since this bill only sets the limits on the salaries that may be paid.

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

This bill will allow class B county elected officials for the treasurer, assessor, clerk and sheriff to receive a greater amount than class A counties. Currently, the class A county salary for treasurer, assessor, and clerk is $49,528; the class A county salary for sheriff is $51,650.
