SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

This bill appropriates $100.0 to the Local Government Division, Department of Finance and Administration to expand the public transit system in Las Cruces in FY00-01 with any unexpended balance at June 30, 2001 reverting to the General Fund.

Significant Issues

This appropriation would be used to expand transit services for the east side of the City of Las Cruces which presently has no city bus services. Funding would be used for operational costs in FY00-01. The city is attempting to increase local gasoline tax to fund this initiative in the future.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

This bill would be a $100.0 non-recurring appropriation from the General Fund.
