SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

The bill appropriates $750.0 to the Department of Health (DOH) to provide statewide services, including prescription drug services, for persons with the human immunodeficiency virus.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The bill appropriates $750.0 in general fund in FY01 to DOH.

The bill does not indicate if the appropriation could be used to leverage federal Medicaid funds for HIV/AIDS services for individuals who qualify.

RELATIONSHIP

In House Bill 2 and Senate Bill 2, the LFC FY01 budget recommendation for DOH budgets $500.0 in tobacco settlement revenue for expansion of HIV/AIDS services as included in the provisions of Senate Bill 58.

TECHNICAL ISSUES

DOH suggests, in line 21, deleting the "s" from the word "prescriptions".
