SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
The bill appropriates funds to the economic development department to contract for services to establish a New Mexico media center.
Significant Issues
The New Mexico media center is to provide facilities with technical capabilities to support New Mexico-based projects that explore local and regional issues. Technical equipment in the facility is to include digital media and film production equipment, cameras, full-capability editing suites and a reference library.
In addition to the facilities, the media center will sponsor artist-in-residence programs and an employment development program for individuals with an interest in media education or production of alternative media.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The bill appropriates $320.0 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2001. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
