SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

House Joint Resolution 14 proposes the sale of the Fort Stanton site, located in Lincoln County. HJM 14 also states that if the Fort Stanton site is sold to a private, non-governmental entity, the state shall place protective preservation covenants on the landscape and all of the character-defining features of the fort as well as the necessary water rights for the long-term preservation of the site for the people of New Mexico.

HJM 14 also provides that Camp Sierra Blanca may or may not be included in the sale of the Fort Stanton site.
