Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Resolution 7 proposes to amend Article 4, Section 27 of the Constitution of New Mexico to allow salary changes of public officials to be effective upon legislative enactment.
Significant Issues
Currently, salary changes are not applicable to public officials while serving the term of office.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The impact depends on those salary changes for public officials authorized by the legislature.
Amendments to the Constitution cost approximately $17.0 to be put of the ballot for a vote.
RELATIONSHIP
This bill relates to Senate Bill 233 which proposes to increase the salaries of the following public officials: Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Attorney General, and Commissioner of Public Lands.
