SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

HJM 57 requests the New Mexico Early Childhood Education Task Force, under the direction of CHE, to develop a universal process for all New Mexico higher education institutions for the awarding of credit for prior learning. Recommendations are to be presented to CHE staff by September 30, 2000.

Significant Issues

CHE comments that this proposal did not come before the commission for consideration and was therefore not recommended among its priorities. The commission is not opposed to pursuing the concept, but recognizes there are associated workload and staffing implications.
