SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill

This joint memorial requests the State Highway Commission to dedicate the "Big I" intersection in Albuquerque as "Veterans Memorial Interchange" in memory and recognition of American combat veterans.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The estimated cost of fabricating and installing a sign in each of the four directions approaching the interchange would be approximately $24.0. This item is not in the department's existing budget. This amount could be allocated from the department's construction, maintenance or signing/striping budget.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



Department staff would present the joint memorial to the State Highway Commission and if approved, would fabricate, install and maintain the signs.



OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES



The size, shape, color and location of the signs on the interstate system are governed by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.



State Highway Commission policy requires requests for designation or name dedication be submitted to the commission for approval and are considered under the following circumstances:
