Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 425 appropriates $1,000.0 from the general fund to provide non-secure alternatives to detention for juveniles.
Significant Issues
The bill would provide programs for non-secure alternatives to detention programs for juveniles; planning, assessment, and design of a regional system of juvenile services, and the as development of multipurpose regional facilities for juveniles.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 425 appropriates $1,000.0 from the general fund to the regional juvenile services grant fund. The appropriation would be recurring and non-reverting. The fund currently has a zero balance and was created in 1994.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The fund is administered by CYFD through the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee (JJAC) which would be required to follow the procurement process to disburse and monitor the use of funds.
