SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 125 appropriates $850.0 in general fund to the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) to provide grants-in-aid for local library services. At the close of FY01, any remaining unexpended balance will revert to the general fund.
Significant Issues
The State Library Division of the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) provides $350.0 to public libraries throughout the state through a funding formula designed to seek equity in the distributions. Though not stated in the bill, the additional funding would probably be disbursed in accordance with this formula.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
HB125 appropriates $850.0 in general fund. Aside from the appropriation, the bill would have no additional fiscal impact because the agency already has a mechanism in place to distribute this funding.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Enactment of House Bill 125 would have no administrative impact on the Office of Cultural Affairs. No additional resources would be required.
