Your PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred



SENATE BILL 163



has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:



1. On page 4, line 6, after "fees" insert "not to exceed fees charged by the United States nuclear regulatory commission for similar licenses".



2. On page 8, between lines 7 and 8, insert the following new section to read:



"Section 5. A new section of the Radiation Protection Act is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] FEES--EXEMPTIONS.--



A. The board shall establish radiation control license, registration and related fees pursuant to the Environmental Improvement Act that are no more than the average charged by states contiguous to New Mexico for similar types of x-ray registrants and services provided by New Mexico.



B. Medical, dental, veterinary and rural health clinic

x-ray equipment, except for equipment located at hospitals that have more than one piece of x-ray equipment, is exempt from the fees."".

















3. Renumber the succeeding section accordingly.,



and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
