AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A REIMBURSEMENT RATE INCREASE FOR ALL CHILD-CARE PROVIDERS BASED ON A MARKET RATE SURVEY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million four hundred thousand dollars ($3,400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for the purpose of funding an increase in reimbursement rates for child-care providers in urban areas in the state in accordance with the market rate survey. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
