FOR THE EDUCATION INITIATIVES AND ACCOUNTABILITY TASK FORCE

AN ACT

RELATING TO STUDENT IMPROVEMENT; INCREASING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY TEACHERS AND COMPENSATION FOR THOSE SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--INCREASED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AND INCREASED COMPENSATION.--For the 2000-2001 school year, for every percent increase above a cost-of-living increase appropriated by the legislature, school districts shall document to the state department of public education an equivalent increase in the provision of educational services by certified school instructors. For the purposes of this section, "educational services" means professional development opportunities, in-service training or instructional time.
