AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SUPPORT OF AN AFTER-SCHOOL LEARNING PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK YOUTH IN THE CITY OF CLOVIS IN CURRY COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to provide or contract for a pilot project after-school learning program for at-risk youth, including academic tutoring, computer training and learning development for youth of single parents, to be operated twelve months a year in the Clovis public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
