AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO CONTRACT FOR A PROGRAM THAT TRAINS PARENTS OF SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN IN THE SANTA FE SCHOOL DISTRICT HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND HOW TO ENCOURAGE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT FROM THEIR CHILDREN.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to contract for a program that trains parents of school-age children in the Santa Fe school district how to advocate for their children and how to encourage academic achievement from their children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
