MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO SUPPORT THE MAGDALENA MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT'S ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred seventy thousand dollars ($170,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to support the Magdalena municipal school district's alternative education program that provides educational services for the early prevention of school failure for pre-school children and an alternative educational setting for at-risk youth to complete high school. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
