AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE LEGAL SERVICES DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF THE STATE ENGINEER TO CONTRACT FOR SERVICES NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH COURT ORDERS IN THE AAMODT CASE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred one thousand dollars ($501,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the legal services division of the office of the state engineer for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to contract for services necessary to comply with court orders in the Aamodt case requiring metering, monitoring and watermaster administration in the Nambe-Pojoaque-Tesuque basin. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
