AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF GROWING INDUSTRIAL HEMP AS A COMMERCIAL CROP.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university, college of agriculture, for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to conduct research on the feasibility of growing industrial hemp as a commercial crop in New Mexico and to establish a pilot test program. The college of agriculture shall report its findings and recommendations to the legislature by November 2001. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
