MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO PURCHASE CERTAIN NEW MEXICO CULTURALLY BASED EDUCATIONAL BILINGUAL MATERIALS FOR USE IN NEW MEXICO PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ninety-seven thousand two hundred dollars ($97,200) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to purchase hard-bound compilations of the monthly publication Amigos for use as New Mexico culturally based educational bilingual material in all secondary public schools in the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
