MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND AN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN ALBUQUERQUE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to provide funding for an early childhood development program at southwestern Indian polytechnic institute to train people from the pueblos of Cochiti, Santo Domingo, San Felipe, Sandia, Isleta, Zia, Jemez, Laguna and Acoma who are eligible to receive temporary assistance for needy families aid to become certified child-care workers. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
