MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE NEW MEXICO PREFRESHMAN ENGINEERING PROGRAM AT NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the New Mexico prefreshman engineering program to increase attendance by low-income, minority and female students underrepresented in science, engineering and math. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
