AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AT-RISK NEWBORN TRANSPORT AND OTHER PROGRAMS OF THE HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Seven hundred seventy thousand nine hundred dollars ($770,900) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents at the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for support of the following health science programs in the following amounts:

(1) one hundred twenty-two thousand dollars ($122,000) for newborn intensive care unit transport services;

(2) three hundred sixteen thousand nine hundred dollars ($316,900) for enhancement of the library collection; and

(3) three hundred thirty-two thousand dollars ($332,000) for increased utility expenses.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
