Your APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 8

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

1. On page 1, line 14, strike the second semicolon and on line 15, strike "MAKING APPROPRIATIONS".

2. On page 2, line 16, strike "forty" and insert in lieu thereof "fifty".

3. On page 3, line 13, remove the brackets and line-through and strike the underscored language.

4. On page 4, line 9, strike "to the following agencies".

5. On page 4, strike lines 11 through 25 and on page 5, strike lines 1 through 8 and insert in lieu thereof:

"(1) comprehensive tobacco use prevention and cessation programs, including media literacy intervention programs;

(2) basic and applied research on the impact of tobacco-related illness;

(3) public health initiatives and health care programs addressing specific populations or diseases in New Mexico;

(4) health care for uninsured New Mexicans or persons in underserved areas in New Mexico;

(5) prevention programs, including primary prevention home visiting programs, programs for domestic violence prevention and intervention and programs designed to increase resistance skills in youth and decrease risky behaviors; and

(6) recruitment, training and education of health care professionals."".

6. On pages 6 through 8, strike Section 4 in its entirety.
