44TH LEGISLATURE - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - FIRST SESSION, 1999

RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING TECHNICAL DESIGN, INCORPORATED, FOR RECEIVING THE NATIONAL BUSINESS INCUBATOR ASSOCIATION'S CLIENT OF THE YEAR AWARD.

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, won the national business incubator association's client of the year award and will be presented with the award in Chicago on March 22, 1999; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, is a technical and professional engineering services company providing engineering, design and drafting services, technical support, consulting, research and development services, project management, project controls and quality assurance to high-technology companies and to the national laboratories; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, is a locally grown, minority-owned company that successfully competes with large national firms for major contracts; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, emphasizes integrity, ethics, quality, timeliness and cost control and has gained a significant share of a difficult market; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, increased its revenues last year to two million eight hundred thousand dollars ($2,800,000) from three hundred eighty-five thousand dollars ($385,000) in 1997 and from eight employees to forty-five in one year; and

WHEREAS, in the same time, technical design, incorporated, expanded to Albuquerque, Espanola and Los Alamos, and its commitment to quality work and exemplary treatment of employees and contractors have enabled it to recruit and retain highly qualified technical employees where few are available and other companies have had difficulty; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, is making an important contribution to the economy of a region where good jobs are scarce and unemployment is high and the company is dedicated to remaining in the region and helping local residents compete for technical jobs; and

WHEREAS, technical design, incorporated, is supporting local training programs and funding a college scholarship program; and

WHEREAS, the association of technical design, incorporated, with the Santa Fe business incubator helped establish the business by providing exposure, an ideal location, minimizing overhead and providing technical assistance in business development; and

WHEREAS, the Santa Fe business incubator was open only three weeks when technical design, incorporated, moved into the facility, and the partnership has proven exceptionally successful as indicated by the award from the national business incubator association;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition and congratulations be extended to technical design, incorporated, and to the Santa Fe business incubator; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to technical design, incorporated, and to the Santa Fe business incubator.
