Synopsis of SB796/SFCS



The bill proposes the State Highway and Transportation Department (SHTD) may not use the metric system before the conversion or use is required by federal law, except for projects begun before October 1, 1997 which were metric from their inception. The SHTD may prepare for conversion and use of the metric system no more than six months before its use is required by federal law.
