Synopsis of Bill



Senate Bill 586 appropriates $950.0 to provide an array of services to children at risk of being referred or children referred to the Juvenile Justice Division of the Children, Youth and Families Department.



Significant Issues



Senate Bill 586 appropriates the following for community-based services:



$150.0 for mentoring, mediation and community involvement programs;

$150.0 for family preservation programs;

$250.0 for a statewide sex offender program which includes assessment, treatment and

aftercare services;

$250.0 for recruiting, training and providing foster homes for children;

$150.0 for an urban construction corps program.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



Senate Bill 586 appropriates $950.0 from the general fund and is recurring.
