Synopsis of Bill

SB531 proposes new sections of law creating the "Parking Placard Abuse Act," under which the GCCH will develop a program to ensure compliance with designated disabled parking space usage, and authorizes the use of volunteers to assist in the enforcement of state statutes and local ordinances on using such spaces.

Significant Issues

The bill addresses the abuse of handicapped parking placards in the state by increasing public awareness and enforcement efforts.

RELATIONSHIP

According to the GCCH, SB 531 is related to the original HB 145, which would grant unlimited parking in restricted zones for passenger vehicles owned by persons with severe mobility impairment.
