SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 193 provides a general fund appropriation to LGD to create a summer Bosque conservation team program to employ and educate youth about the Rio Grande Bosque.

Significant Issues

According to EMNRD, "the creation of a Bosque specific conservation team program, which has employment and education objectives, is similar to projects funded under the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Program." Funding for the program has been acquired through the YCC's competitive grant process.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The bill makes a general fund appropriation of $100.0 for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose stated above. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 reverts to the general fund.
