AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO REIMBURSE GUN DEALERS FOR PROVIDING TRIGGER LOCKS TO HANDGUN PURCHASERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of reimbursing licensed gun dealers and gun show sellers of handguns for the cost of providing handgun purchasers with trigger safety locks approved by the department. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
