SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number _______ to SENATE BILL 374, as amended

Amendment sponsored by Senator Timothy Z. Jennings

1. On page 2, between lines 23 and 24, insert the following:

"(7) prior to December 31, 1999, commence and complete an investigation of the earnings of telecommunications corporations having more than two hundred fifty thousand local exchange access lines in this state and of the fairness of rates charged customers of local exchange services by those telecommunications corporations;".

2. Renumber succeeding paragraphs accordingly.

3. On page 3, lines 15 and 16, strike "September 30, 1999" and insert in lieu thereof "March 31, 2000".

4. On page 17, line 9, strike "January" and insert in lieu thereof "July".

5. On page 31, lines 9 and 10, strike "December 31, 1999" and insert in lieu thereof "June 30, 2000".

6. On page 32, line 17, strike "December 31, 1999" and insert in lieu thereof "June 30, 2000".

7. On page 35, between lines 21 and 22, insert the following:

"Section 19. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of Sections 2 through 18 of this act is January 1, 2000.".
