MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AT CERTAIN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher education for distribution in the following amounts to the following post-secondary educational institutions for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of graduate research projects and travel:
(1) two hundred sixty thousand dollars ($260,000) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico;
(2) one hundred sixty thousand dollars ($160,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university;
(3) twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands university;
(4) thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology;
(5) fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico university; and
(6) fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the board of regents of western New Mexico university.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
