RELATING TO COURTS; PROVIDING THAT A BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IS NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE QUARTERS FOR JUVENILE PROBATION SERVICES; AMENDING A SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. Section 34-6-24 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1968, Chapter 69, Section 25, as amended) is amended to read:
"34-6-24. OPERATION--LOCATION OF COURT--FACILITIES.--In
each county, the district court shall be held at the county
seat. Each board of county commissioners shall provide
adequate quarters for the operation of the district court
[including juvenile probation services] and provide necessary
utilities and maintenance service for the operation and upkeep
of district court facilities. From the funds of each judicial
district, furniture, equipment, books and supplies shall be
provided for the operation of each district court within the
judicial district."
Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 1999.
