MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE ENGINEER TO ASSIST THE TAOS VALLEY ACEQUIA ASSOCIATION AND THE RIO DE CHAMA ACEQUIA ASSOCIATION IN DEVELOPING REGIONAL ACEQUIA GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred five thousand dollars ($105,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of the state engineer for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of assisting the Taos Valley acequia association and Rio de Chama acequia association in developing pilot regional acequia geographic information systems to be compatible with the statewide geographic information system currently being developed by the office of the state engineer. No more than five percent of the appropriation may be expended by the office of the state engineer for administrative costs incurred in the administration of the appropriation. The balance of the appropriation shall be disbursed equally to the Taos Valley acequia association and the Rio de Chama acequia association. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
