AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PILOTING COMMUNITY SCHOOL INITIATIVES IN THE SANTA FE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of piloting the following community school initiatives in the Santa Fe public school district:

(1) parent education activities;

(2) parents as teachers programs; and

(3) before- and after-school programs for children ages five through twelve.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
