0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM;

0012|     DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Five million five hundred
    |
0016|     thousand dollars ($5,500,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0017|     fund to the income support division of the human services
    |
0018|     department for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for expenses
    |
0019|     related to the general assistance program.  Any unexpended or
    |
0020|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999
    |
0021|     shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0022|          Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0023|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect
    |
0024|     immediately.
