0011|     PROPOSING TO AMEND ARTICLE 8 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO

0012|     BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO LIMIT THE USE OF REVENUES FROM

0013|     STATE TAXES AND FEES IMPOSED ON THE SALE, USE OR RECEIPT OF
    |
0014|     GASOLINE AND OTHER MOTOR FUELS.

0016|     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0017|          Section 1.  It is proposed to amend Article 8 of the
    |
0018|     constitution of New Mexico by adding a new section to read:
    |
0019|          "Revenue from state taxes or fees imposed on the sale of
    |
0020|     or for the privilege of using or receiving gasoline and any
    |
0021|     other fuel used to generate power to propel a motor vehicle
    |
0022|     shall be used solely for appropriation by the legislature to
    |
0023|     the state highway and transportation department or its
    |
0024|     successor agency for highway or transportation purposes or for
    |
0025|     distribution to municipalities or counties for local highway
    |

0002|          Section 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution
    |
0003|     shall be submitted to the people for their approval or
    |
0004|     rejection at the next general election or at any special
    |
0005|     election prior to that date which may be called for that
    |
0006|     purpose.
