APPROPRIATION.-- | 0016| A. Four hundred fifty thousand dollars ($450,000) | 0017| is appropriated from the general fund to the state department | 0018| of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for | 0019| the purpose of conducting a statewide media literacy program | 0020| including: | 0021| (1) expansion of media literacy as substance | 0022| abuse prevention; | 0023| (2) dissemination of technology and media | 0024| literacy programs; | 0025| (3) unique educational CD-ROM technology | - 1 - 0001| training; | 0002| (4) support of Taos talking picture festival | 0003| media literacy forum; | 0004| (5) increase of native American media | 0005| literacy programs; | 0006| (6) development of a comprehensive critical | 0007| thinking media literacy curriculum; | 0008| (7) enhancing the "empowering parents of | 0009| young children" program; | 0010| (8) expanding free training for rural and | 0011| disadvantaged groups; | 0012| (9) extending training programs; | 0013| (10) evaluating the programs; and | 0014| (11) continuing building educational | 0015| programs. | 0016| B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance | 0017| remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the | 0018| general fund. | 0019| - 2 - |
