SENATE CAPITAL OUTLAY REQUEST 146
STATE OF NEW MEXICO
43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998
REQUESTED BY
BEN D. ALTAMIRANO
FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN GRANT COUNTY.
I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded:
to the local government division of the department of finance and administration:
A. seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to plan, design, construct
and equip a public safety building for the police and fire departments for the city of Bayard in
Grant county;
B. two hundred twenty-seven thousand dollars ($227,000) to plan, design,
construct and equip an emergency medical services building in the community of Mimbres in
Grant county;

C. one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for improvements to the
municipal swimming pool complex in the town of Hurley in Grant county;
to the board of regents of western New Mexico university:
two million dollars ($2,000,000) to plan, design, construct and equip a football
complex, including a three thousand five hundred seat stadium, lighting and a
field house, in Silver City in Grant county;
to the state department of public education:
A. seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to plan, design, construct
and equip a recreation complex, as a joint project with the municipality of Silver City in Grant
county; and
B. seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) for purchase and
installation, including necessary electrical system improvements, of educational technology for
public schools in the Cobre consolidated schools in Grant county.
