0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred seventy
    |
0018|     thousand dollars ($370,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0019|     fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university
    |
0020|     for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of paying
    |
0021|     operational and equipment costs necessary to meet gender
    |
0022|     equity requirements for intercollegiate athletics imposed by
    |
0023|     Title IX.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
    |
0024|     the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund.
