0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES

0012|     DEPARTMENT FOR ADDITIONAL SOCIAL WORKERS IN THE PROTECTIVE

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred eighty-four
    |
0017|     thousand dollars ($184,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0018|     fund to the children, youth and families department for
    |
0019|     expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of hiring a
    |
0020|     minimum of five new full-time-equivalent adult protective
    |
0021|     social workers in the protective services division to perform
    |
0022|     investigations of abuse, neglect and exploitation.  Any
    |
0023|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund.
