0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ASSIST NEW MEXICO TEACHERS IN THE

0012|     TEACHING OF GEOGRAPHY.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars
    |
0016|     ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0017|     commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0018|     1999 for the purpose of providing summer institutes and
    |
0019|     ongoing assistance to New Mexico teachers in teaching and
    |
0020|     promoting the teaching of geography.  This appropriation is
    |
0021|     contingent upon matching funds and a donation of instructional
    |
0022|     geography materials from the national geographic society.  Any
    |
0023|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund.
