0011| REQUESTING THE GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO NEGOTIATE WITH

0012| THE CITY OF SANTA FE REGARDING THE ACQUISITION BY SANTA FE OF
|
0013| CATHEDRAL PARK.

0015| WHEREAS, the property control division of the general
|
0016| services department wants to sell Cathedral park, located at
|
0017| the corner of east Palace avenue and Cathedral place; and
|
0018| WHEREAS, the city of Santa Fe has declared in resolution
|
0019| number 1997-14 its desire to acquire the property; and
|
0020| WHEREAS, the city has maintained the park since at least
|
0021| 1978; and
|
0022| WHEREAS, in consideration of its long-term investment in
|
0023| the care and upkeep of the park, the city has requested that
|
0024| the state negotiate the transfer of the park to the city so
|
0025| that the city may direct the development of downtown Santa Fe;
|
0001| and
|
0002| WHEREAS, the state and the city of Santa Fe may be able to
|
0003| reach a mutually agreeable solution that includes the transfer
|
0004| of ownership of Cathedral park to the city;
|
0005| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0006| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the general services department be
|
0007| requested to work with the city of Santa Fe in planning the
|
0008| future of Cathedral park, located on the corner of east Palace
|
0009| avenue and Cathedral place with the objective being the
|
0010| acquisition of the park by the city; and
|
0011| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the general services
|
0012| department report on progress of its discussions with the city
|
0013| of Santa Fe to the appropriate interim legislative committee by
|
0014| December 1, 1997; and
|
0015| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
|
0016| transmitted to the secretary of general services and the mayor
|
0017| of Santa Fe.
