GETTY | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| EXPRESSING THE CONDOLENCE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO | 0012| THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DAN MADERO. | 0013| | 0014| WHEREAS, on March 4, 1997 Dan Madero, a fifty-two year old | 0015| retired policeman from Gallup and thirty-year resident of | 0016| Albuquerque passed away; and | 0017| WHEREAS, Dan worked at Trumbull community center with kids | 0018| for years, in gang intervention and drug prevention programs; | 0019| and | 0020| WHEREAS, Dan's work brought him close to gang members, and | 0021| he demanded their respect, making a huge difference in their | 0022| lives and helping to show kids a new way to live; and | 0023| WHEREAS, Dan took great pride in everything he did, from | 0024| helping youth to always making sure that Trumbull community | 0025| center was clean and presentable; and | 0001| WHEREAS, often when Dan took a day off from work, he would | 0002| spend it assisting his mother and aunt who live in his | 0003| neighborhood in Albuquerque, and he checked on their well-being | 0004| every day and took care of them; and | 0005| WHEREAS, Dan also taught ceramics at the community center | 0006| and worked on arts and crafts with the kids and could be found | 0007| watching over Trumbull community center at night and often | 0008| walked women to their cars to keep them safe; and | 0009| WHEREAS, Dan Madero was a member of the Catholic church | 0010| and a Crucillistra; and | 0011| WHEREAS, Dan's brother Ernie said that Dan was a happy-go- | 0012| lucky man who was always willing to help everybody and who | 0013| loved his work and his family, enjoyed fishing and enjoyed his | 0014| life to the fullest; and | 0015| WHEREAS, Dan is survived by his wife, Josephine; | 0016| daughters, Jeanette Madero and Evelina Mitchell; mother, Edna | 0017| Madero; sister, Maxine Madero; brothers, Ernest Burrola and | 0018| Theodore S. Madero; and six grandchildren; | 0019| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF | 0020| REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that heartfelt | 0021| condolence be extended to the many family members, friends, co- | 0022| workers and youth of Albuquerque who knew and worked with Dan | 0023| Madero; and | 0024| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0025| transmitted to the family of Dan Madero. |
