0011|     REQUESTING THE CREATION OF AN INTERIM ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO

0012|     STUDY THE PLAN, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND COST OF A MEMORIAL

0013|     HONORING NEW MEXICO WARTIME VETERANS TO BE LOCATED IN SANTA FE.

0015|          WHEREAS, New Mexicans have served with extraordinary
    |
0016|     distinction in numerous armed conflicts, including World War I,
    |
0017|     World War II, the Korean conflict, the Vietnam war, the Persian
    |
0018|     Gulf war and interventions in Somalia, Haiti and Bosnia as well
    |
0019|     as other conflicts and interventions; and
    |
0020|          WHEREAS, Santa Fe, our state capital, does not have a
    |
0021|     memorial honoring New Mexico wartime veterans; and
    |
0022|          WHEREAS, the city of Santa Fe has indicated a desire to
    |
0023|     donate land for the construction of a memorial honoring New
    |
0024|     Mexico wartime veterans; and
    |
0025|          WHEREAS, numerous veterans' groups and associations
    |
0001|     support the construction of a memorial honoring New Mexico
    |
0002|     wartime veterans; 
    |
0003|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE BY THE LEGISLATURE OF
    |
0004|     THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the legislature create an advisory
    |
0005|     interim committee to study the plan, design, construction and
    |
0006|     cost of a memorial honoring wartime New Mexico veterans located
    |
0007|     in Santa Fe; and
    |
0008|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this interim advisory
    |
0009|     committee report its findings and recommendations to the
    |
0010|     legislative finance committee and to the local government
    |
0011|     division of the department of finance and administration by
    |
0012|     October 31, 1997; and
    |
0013|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0014|     transmitted to the New Mexico legislative council, to the
    |
0015|     legislative finance committee and to the local government
    |
0016|     division of the department of finance and administration.
