0001| HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 30 | 0002| 43rd legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 1997 | 0003| INTRODUCED BY | 0004| JUDY VANDERSTAR RUSSELL | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING SCHOOL SYSTEMS IN NEW MEXICO TO ADOPT THE EDDIE | 0012| EAGLE GUN SAFETY PROGRAM OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION WITH | 0013| A VIEW TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL FIREARM-RELATED INJURIES TO | 0014| CHILDREN. | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, teaching children to act safely around firearms | 0017| is a critical step in the effort to reduce the number of | 0018| firearm-related accidents among children; and | 0019| WHEREAS, the Eddie Eagle gun safety program teaches the | 0020| fundamentals of firearms safety to elementary school-aged | 0021| children in an effective and enjoyable way, communicating to | 0022| them the lifesaving message offered by the program: "If you | 0023| see a gun, STOP! Don't touch. Leave the area.
